The Boss: ya my room or could go like to lounge or pool or somthing

[Thing is, he's let him sniff if he thought it'd help...]

Your room is fine. I'll be right there.

[ Yeah but that requires asking for it and he's not that sad yet. Try in two hours.

The door is ajar.

Brocade has not bothered to turn the lights on. He's just in a cocoon of blanket.]

[Perhaps he'll intuit--

Regardless, when he comes into the room he closes the door behind him and approaches the bed. The light stays off -- instead he shifts only his eyes for optimal dark-vision, to avoid ruining the terrible mood before Brocade is ready.

He sits next to the cocoon on the bed, and reaches over to pat Brocade's head.]

Do you want to talk, or should I just pet you?

Talkin's fine but... I dunno. Definitely keep pettin.

As you wish.

[He pulls his legs up onto the bed to get comfortable and continues to pet, this time massaging his ears with both hands -- even if it means sticking his hands into the cocoon.]

[ It's ABSOLUTELY sticking hands into the cocoon. There's no purring but there's a way the lump settles in that he's relaxing. ]

We're still gonna be friends, right?

[Relaxing is more than he really expected, so it makes him happy to see. When Brocade asks that question though, he lightly pinches the tip of his ear to scold him.]

Of course we are. I can't speak on Yingxing's behalf, but from where I stand, it seems that with some time and space this could still be fixed. If not... Then it is a tragedy of mutual harm, and I have no intention of blaming you for it.

[ There's no too loud yell or protest at the pinch. Nothing. His ear twitches a little in his pinch. ]

...

Is he okay?

[Seeing Brocade so badly off is, to be honest, gutwrenching. Bel goes back to rubbing his ears with a soft sigh, and ponders a moment before answering.]

...No. He's a mess. But it's himself he's most angry at.

[ He closes his eyes slowly under that pampering. If anything it's helping him keep a clear mind. Company in situations like this always did. ]

... Yeah, he always was t'type to think it's him first. Idiot.

...

Take real good care of him, yeah? He best be the happiest man alive.

I will. He took me back after what I'd done, after all. But...

[He trails off, pausing just a moment before asking in a more tentative voice.]

...Do you really not want him anymore?

[ He shifts under the blanket, nearly entirely disappearing as he curls up.

Or did he- yeah a good deal of the blanket deflates as he just turns into a cat. ]

[Oh buddy he knows what that means. He does the same thing to escape hard conversations, as Brocade has seen. He considers for a moment, before tugging one side of the blanket up so he can crawl into the deflated cocoon and a. be warm, b. cuddle this sad cat.]

Are you hiding because you think I'll be angry with you for saying you're done with him, or because you know I'll be angry with you if you say you don't deserve him?

[Green eyes reflect under the blanket, but he puts his head back down on his paws as Bel eases in.]

Both. Bro, all this time, he said I been abusin' him. He threw the rings.

S'done. It don't get more done than that.

I see...

[He's quiet just a bit, curling up around Brocade like a warm, protective barrier from everything outside.]

But you know, Yingxing is-- I know I've missed a lot, but even when we were in high school he was the sort to go off the rails when hurt. When we fought, neither of us was kind... But we always apologized later. It's not the right time today, but I wouldn't give up forever in your position.

[ He doesn't shift from where he's enjoying the rare delight of being the little spoon. It ALMOST breaks through the SAD!!! almost.

Still, his ear turns- ]

You two fought? Always thought it was some.. I dunno. Some storybook thing.

[There's a soft snort, incredulous at the idea of a peaceful youth.]

Not at all. When we met, we were both lost in life. By the time we were at university and dating, we were... codependent, to be completely honest. And self-destructive, and emotionally unstable. Sometimes we were like a fairytale, but other times we'd fight til we were both exhausted and battered, body and soul. We drank a lot... He'd get into bar fights and I'd get into strangers' beds, and then I'd pick him up from jail in the morning. Still... there was always love, and we supported eachother, until I left. I don't even know what he had to go through to get his life in order. And yet... he wanted me back in his life. He may want you back in it too, when you've both processed this.

[ He listens quietly. It's easy enough to picture. ]

He went through hell an' came out on top.

[ He knows better than anyone. ]

... I'd give up alla this. The engagement, fuck, everything. Anything I've got, t'have my best friend.

[He's not sure he could stuff Yingxing back in the "necessary to ignore" compartment now, either. If Yingxing left him, Suanni might throw away everything to chase.

It must be horrible for Brocade, whose past with Yingxing is so much better.]

He thinks it's his fault, and he's terrified he'll hurt us all. He needs support that flies in the face of his rage, right now. But you deserve time to untangle how you feel about eachother, so I'll just support the both of you myself.

It aint his fault.

I suspect neither of you are completely at fault. There doesn't have to be one person to blame, you know.

[The tail is like FWAP FWAP FWAP under the blanket. The catcade takes a BIG BREATHE and lets it out in a huffy sigh.]

He was a dick. But... can't say he was in the wrong. I hurt Razzy.
