[ Takes a deep breath and squeezes the hand in his. And then lets that breath out over the spine of the feather. It quivers- ]

[And it lets go of a memory in turn.

His expression settles into an odd mix of predatory waiting and absolute boredom.]

[ It sharpens into a prideful grin, sharp and ready. Some fucking PUNK challenging him on HIS turf, in front of HIS men. All the gods and all the spectators watching. Who gives a shit who this bastard is. No one will after Sett's done with them. ]

[ And that anger bleeds into that now familiar rage. Brocade doesn't twitch as the skin of his face parts, a moment of white cheekbone showing before blood begins to pour down his cheek and neck.

Between their palms, hot blood begins to overflow between their twinned fingers, sticky, fresh and fast. ]

[He's still surfacing from the memory- for all the talk of being monsters, he was not prepared to watch all that blood, or the way this- this man, that looked like his fiance, that had his face - the way he mashed that guy's head into a crunchy mess on the ground. Oh fuck. [His hands are trembling when he clasps his hand against that bleeding palm, the other one coming up to cup his cheekbone, as if he could stem the bleeding. Warm blood runs sticky down his wrists.] Cade? Cade, it's not real. [But he's bleeding in the exact same places.] Cade!

The fuck it ain't.

[ Under his fingers, the blood comes in slower and slower spurts... He can feel scar tissue crawling together in the wound and the flap just falling off where in some point in the past, Sett had gotten annoyed with the healing and just cut it off.

It's not that the man who opens his eyes isn't Cade. It is. He just is riding giddy on that adrenaline and blood lust. Being The Boss.

He pulls them closer by the bloody, lacerated mess of thier hands and licks a rough, possessive strip through the blood pouring down his fiancé's face.]

Who did that, babe? I'll fucking kill them.

[He's not thinking when he answers, absolutely scared shitless.]

... Okay.

[He rubs his face.] I ain't killin' ME.

[He doesn't REMEMBER DOING THAT, THOUGH. His ears plane as he struggles past that FEELING.] You sure? If yer protectin' someone...

[Yingxing just sort of stares at him. His pupils are dilating something fierce, as the terror recedes into a constant thing, instead of the spike as his wounds opened.]

Are you saying I'd betray you like that, asshole?

Heh. [His fingers reach to press into the wound.]

Nah... But if I'm gonna mark ya up, wish I remembered it.

This doesn't seem fair. [He tips his head into that claw.] Don't have anythin' sharp to return the favor.

[ The shift of his head means the claw slides a little further, a little deeper, under the skin.

He pulls his hand back after a moment, and sucks the fresh blood from his fingers. ]

You got teeth, don't you? [Voice and expression soft, lips red.]

[Holy shit seeing this just makes him lightheaded.]

I do, but - they're blunt. [He says, a little stupidly, a little drunk off the cocktail of pain and fear and seeing Cade's cocky grin.] Gonna hurt a lot. Even more than this.

[He leans in, nuzzling that wound, enjoying the man's shifting scents. As good as gold. Better.
